Obituary of Philip H. Greene

Memorial services for Philip H. Greene were held on May 17, 2014, at Pine Knolls Cemetery, Hanover, New Hampshire. Born in Pasadena, California, Mr. Greene attended public schools in the adjacent communities of South Pasadena and San Marino, and is a graduate of Pomona College. He served as a naval officer during World War II and Korea, was both a former director of the Southwest Water Co. and vice president of a member firm of the New York Stock Exchange, and for many years was editor of The California Citrograph magazine

Mr. Greene was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the Society of the Cincinnati, and the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. A competitive sailor, he formerly belonged to the Balboa and Newport Harbor yacht clubs of southern California.

He and his wife of more than 55 years, Marjorie B. Greene, who predeceased him, were long-time art collectors, assembling an important group of California-style watercolors, a number of which are in the permanent collection of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College.

In recent years he lived in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as California.

Mr. Greene was born to Josephine E. Hilliard and O. Kenneth Greene, was married to the former Marjorie Ann Burns, and is survived by his son RADM Philip H. Greene, Jr. (USN, Ret.) and three grandchildren.

LT Greene was enrolled in the Company 13 January 2003. He served 11 years and was a Regular Member. His son RADM Phillip H. Greene, Jr. is a member by Right of -Descent
