The AHAC Armorer and Quartermaster have provided support to its mission, activities, and members since the "Military Company of Massachusetts" was organized in 1637. Thirty-one individuals have served the Company in this position. The duty and position of supporting the members of the Company was originally performed by the armorer and subsequently by the Quartermaster. The Quartermaster and Armorer were initially appointed by the Company, but became an elected staff position in 1860.

The Current Quartermaster is the 19th individual elected to this position.
The AHAC Quartermaster is the senior elected staff officer in the Company. He is supported by an appointed staff of one Quartermaster Sergeant, and four assistants.
The Quartermaster is primarily responsible for the following:

  1. Ensue Company Standards are maintained.
  2. Equip AHAC members with required uniforms and equipment.
  3. Support Company events.
  4. Organize & Transport Company Equipment during the Fall Field Day Tour of Duty.

For over the past 250 years members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery have proudly worn its distinctive uniform.

The current uniform, adopted in 1937, is a continual reminder of the distinction and honor its members have brought to parades, ceremonies, and historical events throughout the World. The proper wear of the AHAC Uniform, continues this tradition. Each new member (see membership) is to obtain the required uniform(s) within six months of election to membership. The Quartermaster is charged with assisting each member in meeting this requirement. Detail information of uniform wear, procedures, protocol, and supplier information is located on the member's page of the AHAC Website and in the AHAC Training Manual. Be advised most uniforms take in excess of two months to fabricate.

An extract of the applicable AHAC Rules & Regulations and diagrams in the AHAC Uniform(s) is provided for each member's use and information. The Quartermaster is willing and able to support and assist your full participation in AHAC uniformed events and activities. I hope your time and experiences in the "Ancients" will be meaningful and rewarding.

Respectfully Submitted:
COL (MA) Lawrence A. Willwerth
